Sometimes when we travel I feel a little guilty when I bring my camera along. I know I have my phone, but it just doesn’t capture things the way I want and they end up staying stuck in the cloud. I KNEW I wanted to capture this destination.. plus it was my birthday weekend so I can do what I want lol.
Everyone I’ve met tells me they can’t believe I hadn’t been to Charleston… I know I live in the south, but I am a california girl at heart. My choice of vaca is normally strolling the streets of the 3rd street promanade in santa monica (humidity free), going to a soul cycle class, followed by a green juice and a stop at Sweet Greens for a delicious salad.
BUT, I was up for trying something new, and after my husband showed me Bolt Farm Tree house on instagram, I was really excited. Part of the deal was that we would get photos taken by their trusted photographer… I’ll share those later! She did amazing.
The treehouse is located about 40mins outside Charleston on private wooded acreage. Owned by a member of need to breathe and his wife. The constructed these adorable treehouses for the ultimate clamping experience. We stayed in their “Wildflower” treehouse… which was actually the most private (at the end of the street) and surrounded by beautiful wildflowers they planted. We were greeted with the best piece of chocolate cake. The decor was so boho with little details everywhere. There was a record player, a box of games, and an outdoor shower. They are all about cultivating a kid-like spirit and even provide a box to store your phone while there. There was AC, but I definitely recommend going during a cooler season that summer so you can do outdoorsy things. They have a fire pit for s’mores and a pizza oven. (you can even add a vip upgrade to include those things with your stay). If you go, I think you get this free if you mention my name… as long as that promotion is still valid!
They open a few spots every month for a chance to book later in the year. We booked our May stay in december! So it may be a few months out when you can actually go, so be on the look out!
If you’re in the mood for healthy eating, you have to try Dellz for their amazing vegan (or non vegan pizza), Basic Kitchen for their vegan nachos, basic bowl with magic green sauce & beet margarita, Uncorked for a self serve wine station, and Huriyali for an amazing smoothie or breakfast bowl.
To find healthy places, I always search #vegan and whatever city i’m going to to find some options that serve great food. I love seeing the menu before I walk in somewhere. And when it comes to traveling, I am ALL about the FOOD. I come home and remake everything I loved. It’s how I get awesome new recipes.
