It’s almost 2023 and I want to go back to the basics with photography and I would love for you to join!
I took photography class in high school with a film camera and a dark room. I took one again in college and then transitioned into many years of learning digital. There are basic rules to follow for a “good” image.. like the rule of thirds, composition, the range of dark to light, the balance in an image, etc.. which this mini class will incorporate..BUT it also teaches you how to see things differently, what to focus on when shooting, and get to know your camera better!
Tips:
- review the shot list (the images don’t have to be taken on the exact day they are due to post- you can batch shoot)
- use whatever camera you have (you can also use your phone.. if you download lightroom mobile, you have access to an in-app camera with manual settings and editing capabilities)
- I use natural light (unless specified)- this means turning off all the indoor lights so I can concentrate on editing for one white balance. You can test which you like best as well as what time of day you like to shoot)
- I shoot raw.. it gives you more editing flexibility but the files are large and if you are editing on a phone or iPad, you may run out of space unless you are using iCloud storage. Have fun with trying different presets but the goal is to get the image to look good without one first.
- MAMAS- you can definitely use your kids as subjects for most of these assignments if you choose
- Light is the most important in my opinion. When in doubt, face your subject towards the light
- Check in to IG to see a video about photographing the image on my stories or reels
- do it in a time frame that works for you
Please #BPPHOTOCLASS and for others to see the assignment, #BPIMAGE1 or whichever image it was!
